Winter Care for Your Skin

Just as the sun can play havoc on your skin over the summer months, winter is also a time when additional care is needed to protect your skin from the extremes of the weather conditions that it will be exposed to.
Often during the winter we are inside in air conditioned or heated rooms and then we go out into the cold and hope that our skin can cope with the environment.
It is a time when lips become chapped, skin becomes raw, and many people get skin that becomes red and itchy.
Winter skin protection is extremely important. While the sun is generally not as harsh in the winter it is still possible to get sun damage during this time. Even if you are living in areas where there is snow you can get a lot of light reflected off that snow that can cause damage to your skin. With that in mind you should be wearing a foundation with some form of SPF factor to prevent against damage.
Foundation is very important in the winter months as this is your protection against the weather.
Through the winter months, many people find that their skin becomes a lot drier due to the heat and humid conditions that they experience inside.
Exfoliating will help to remove the dead cells and allow for the skin to breathe and regenerate.
In extreme conditions you might find that it will be essential to wrap some clothing around your face while going outside as this is a time when sensitive capillaries can break.
There is a lot of damage can be done to the skin during winter and while we might not feel so inclined to spend the time on skin care during the winter months is as important as any other time of the year, and often more so for people with sensitive skin.

With the incidence of heart disease on the increase, more people are turning to fitness training to help reduce their chances of problems later in life.
Apart from eating the right foods, there is nothing quite like fitness training to help us maintain a healthy heart.
Exercise of the body increases the heart rate and in doing so exercises the heart.
If you have had heart problems or your family has a history of heart problems then it is always wise to consult your family doctor before undertaking a fitness-training program.
There might be specific exercises that they will recommend you do to help any condition you might have.
You can get heart monitors relatively cheaply and these are a good way to keep a track of your heart rate and see that you are not over-taxing yourself.
A heart rate monitor will allow you to train at the optimum intensity for your requirements.
There are many different types of heart monitors and a corresponding range of prices.
There are heart monitors for specific purposes too where they have additional features to give you some idea of the calories that you might be burning when you exercise.
They can be worn on your wrist or around the chest and some of them are built into home gym equipment such as bikes, treadmills and elliptical trainers where the grips you hold on the equipment relate your heart information to a screen that you can observe while training.
The monitors that are strapped around your chest are generally the most accurate and they usually come with a watch like attachment that displays your heart rate reading.
The premium machines offer all types of data that can help you customize your training to your needs and it will be easier for you to track your progress and improve your health and fitness.
The Benefits of Resistance Training

People of all ages can get substantial benefits from including resistance training into their exercise regime.
Even elderly people can find noticeable improvements in their health.
By adding resistance training their muscles will become stronger and this will help them with balance, which becomes all-important as they age.
By becoming stronger elderly people also become more independent as they will be less likely to rely on others.
Research has also shown that resistance training improves bone density and this is an important aspect of good health for people of all ages.
Bones are constantly ‘growing’ as with all parts of the body, however this process slows down as we age.
Resistance training helps to address this aging process by maintaining good bone density.
Post-menopausal women are particularly prone to problems relating to bone density as their hormones change and they can benefit considerably from resistance training.
Along with proper nutrition, resistance training is one of the most effective methods of reducing fat.
And along with fat reduction you can expect a leaner body.
Muscle burns fat so any program that increases your muscle mass will help to burn the fat.
You are effectively burning fat to feed the muscles.
Research has also proven that resistance training has many other beneficial effects for your health from lowering blood pressure and lowering your heart rate while at rest.
This will obviously reduce the risk of heart disease quite considerably.
The additional strength that can be gained from resistance training serves to help anyone lead a more active lifestyle.
With the added benefits of strength, fat loss, balance and the ability to slow the aging process, there is nothing quite like it to help you live longer and be happier along the way.
It doesn’t need to be something that rules your life, as even a little bit of training will benefit you, however, doing it consistently will result in a better return for the time you invest in your health.
Toners
While toners are still readily available on the market, much of the reason why they where needed is no longer necessary due to developments in other skin care products.
Until the current development of modern cleansers, the ones that we applied in the past left a residue after they were used.
Due to this residue that was left on the skin after cleansing people would use toners to remove the excess as a final step in the skin cleaning process.

The cleansers that are available on the market nowadays don’t leave this residue, thereby eliminating the need for toners.
This hasn’t stopped the popularity of toners with many women who consider them an essential element in their skin care regime.
There is a misconception with some people that toners will go a long way in the process of helping to firm and tighten the skin.
While they might have some affect in this area their main benefit these days is the ingredients that are in them.
Manufacturers have added more antioxidants into their products in recent years as more people are becoming aware of the benefits that are made possible with antioxidants.
Due to this, most of the good toners on the market now have increased levels of these antioxidants.
For this reason alone there is added benefit of using toners after cleansing as this will help to maintain a better skin condition.
While you cannot expect to get the same levels of antioxidants in a toner as you will find in face creams, any additional amounts that you use will all be added benefits for your skin condition so that will make it worthwhile.
There is also the psychological benefits that some toners will make you ‘feel’ better from having applied them as part of your face care process.
That alone can do wonders for your complexion.
Your Brows
Your brows frame your eyes and reshaping them can make a big difference to the way you look.
Coloring can also change the way that they set off your face.
Contrary to popular belief the hairs of your brow will not grow back thicker if you pluck them.
In fact by constantly plucking your brows you’re more likely to stop them from growing altogether.
Before you do start plucking your brows you need to decide what shape you would like to have.
It is generally best to follow the brows natural arch.
While working with the natural arch of your brow you will get a look that is more in keeping with the shape of your face while still allowing you a lot of room to make improvements.
The arch at the top of the brow will be the line that you would generally want to follow.
The hair will generally be thicker at the center of the brow and the first step is to start plucking that hair from the area at the bottom of the brow line to match that at the top.
Always pluck in the direction that the hair is growing as this is less painful and it is easier to remove the hairs.
For a nice natural look it is quite good to have the brow a similar thickness at the beginning and along through to the centerline and then tapering off to the edges with a nice natural curve.
Before you decide to color your brows try using a similar color with some mascara first.
This will give you an indication of what you will look like once your brows have been colored and if you don’t like what you see you can easily wash it off.
Once you’re satisfied with the color that you like from using the mascara, you can use a more permanent solution.
With Only One Skin You Had Better Care For It
While we all like to have a healthy glowing complexion, there are many things that we do on a daily basis that is causing damage to our skin.
It has been mentioned many times already and will always be the curse of the skin care specialists but the biggest problem that we all face is the damage that exposure to the sun can cause.
While it is necessary to get some sunlight for optimum health, over exposure to the harmful ultraviolet light, no matter how small will cause damage and age the skin.
Always apply SPF sunscreen to your skin when venturing outside unless you are happy to let your skin become wrinkled and damaged.
Another way to damage your skin, sometimes permanently, is to pick spots and inflammations with your fingers or other sharp objects.
One of the problems with picking at your face is the fact that we harbor so many opportunities for a transfer of bacteria with the dirt that lies under our fingertips and that is even for the cleanest of people.
Once you pick your face with your fingernails that bacteria can get transferred directly into the pores of the skin and can cause more inflammation and permanent scarring.
Even using a needle that you have sterilized can cause more problems than good as you damage the pores and set them up for trapping sebum and bacteria in the future.
If there are problems with trapped matter on your skin it is wise to get a trained professional to remove it so you don’t do any irreparable damage.
The other main areas of health that will affect the condition of your skin are excess stress, a lack of good nutrition and a lack of sufficient sleep.
These will all affect your overall health and that will be shown in the condition of your skin.
And one way to make your skin look very unhealthy and aged that is only second to overexposure to the sun, is smoking.
Good Nutrition

Nutrition is a study in itself and there is far more than could ever be covered in this course.
There are however some nutrition basics that will help you to get better results from your training.
Many people are against taking supplements, but fitness training does place additional demands on our body and sometimes this can only be addressed by taking good supplements.
There are many different brands of supplements on the market and these have been developed due to the growth of the fitness industry and the fact that more people are concerned about their health.
Eating the right food will go a long way to supplying us with the nutrition that we need however even the best foods can’t always supply us with the requirements of our busy lives.
One of the main food items (if it can be called that) that needs to be eliminated from our diets wherever possible is sugar.
Sugar will add nothing to your health and can do a whole lot of damage and cause problems such as diabetes to occur even for those people who are following good fitness training regimes.
You will need a level of quality complex carbohydrates to give you the energy to do your fitness training and also protein to help your muscles to recover and grow stronger.
These can be supplied through the foods we eat or by buying quality protein powders and nutritional supplements designed for people who train.
Recovery times can be shortened by supplements and taking supplements can enhance improvements in many aspects of fitness.
Good nutrition is probably the most important aspect of any fitness-training program, as it will ensure you are getting the maximum benefit from the work that you are putting in to your health.
It can be quite costly but the rewards can be quite impressive too.
Some Quick Tips for Healthy Skin Care
Face it the top of the list for keeping your skin healthy is to spend the money to ensure that you get good quality sun protection.
Whether that protection is in the form of hats, sunglasses or clothing, or in quality SPF sun care lotions, any money that is spent on protecting your skin from the sun will pay dividends in the years to come.
Everything from aging to skin cancer is caused by overexposure to the sun.
Get sufficient water throughout the day to remain hydrated.
Not only will your overall health improve but so will the condition of your skin.
Always use a good moisturizer to ensure that you keep your skin moist at all times.
While drinking water will ensure that you remain hydrated your skin can become dry due to various different conditions.
Even working in the air conditioned offices can dry out your skin.
Sleep and exercise are essential for good health and are also an essential part of maintaining a healthy skin.
If you’re not getting enough sleep you can expect to see wrinkles appearing sooner along with dark areas under your eyes.
Cleanse your skin on a regular basis (once or twice a day) to ensure that any dead skin cells are removed from the surface of the skin and the pores don’t become blocked.
Always choose the best products for your skin as you only get one chance to take care of it and it has the last you a lifetime.
Choosing the right products can make the difference between looking 10 years younger in the future.
Many of the choices that you make throughout life and even those that are made for you as a child will determine the condition of your skin as you age.
While we can’t be expected to know too much about skin condition as children there is no time like the present to start taking care of your skin.
We all have the opportunity to choose whether we are going to lie in the sun or smoke cigarettes.
Sun Protection

Many people are unaware that the main reason for the visible signs of aging of the skin is because of exposure to the sun.
While we all require some sunlight to remain healthy and get our share of vitamin D, most people get more than their fair share and the resulting overexposure to the sun ages most people prematurely.
Having a slight tan coloring our skin can give the impression that we look somewhat healthier but the opposite can be true with the damage that is going on below the skin.
The ultra violet rays from sunlight promote the production of melanin and that is why we tan, but this also creates free radicals that destroy the lipids and proteins in the epidermis, which is the thin outermost layer of skin.
Damage can also occur deeper within the skin as the collagen is destroyed.
Collagen is responsible for the elasticity of the skin and keeping our skin firm.
Obviously with a reduction in the elasticity of the skin we will begin to look aged sooner.
Antioxidants will help to reduce the damage that the sun will do to the skin but the best solution is to use suitable protection so the skin doesn’t get damaged in the first place.
Other than remaining out of the sun as much as possible, which isn’t a feasible solution, the best course of action to take is to always ensure that you wear a good sunscreen with an SPF factor of 15 or more depending on your skin type.
Certain sunscreen lotions can cause irritation for people with sensitive skin so, as with all the products you use on your face, try a test sample first.
Make sure you cover all exposed areas of your face and especially the ears where many people forget to apply sunscreen.
Lips are prone to burn easily so a lip cream with an SPF factor should also be used.
Wide brimmed hats and sunglasses will also help to keep the sun off your face and reduce the aging affects.
The Illusion of Makeup

Makeup is an art where you can create an illusion that can transform one face into many different personalities.
By applying makeup strategically you can enhance or minimize the effect that one part or another on the face might have on your overall appearance.
While most women won’t have lips like Angelina Jolie there are some steps that can be taken to enhance the ‘pout’ and give your lips a sexier look.
One of the tricks that makeup artists will use is to apply less color to the center of the bottom lip.
Some refrain from using any color at all and in doing this they can create an illusion that the lip is fuller in that area.
An alternative to this is to apply a shimmer to the middle of the bottom lip, as this will give the same illusion as a lack of color in that area.
To make the upper lip look fuller, a makeup pencil can usually do the trick if applied correctly.
This is done by penciling a light or white line just above the top edge of the lip in the center of the ‘cupid’s brow’
This creates the illusion of a fuller lip.
There are various products on the market that are advertised as ‘lip plumpers’ and while it isn’t possible for them to actually plump up the lips they can help to create that illusion that the lips are fuller and for this purpose some of them do a really good job.
These products are designed to reflect the light when applied to the lips and this gives the effect that the lips are fuller.
There is always surgery as a last resort but the products that are on the market can do a really good job of creating sexy lips for most people and the results will look a lot more natural than those you might expect from surgery.
