Vitamins

For many people who are overweight the simple fact that they have become overweight due to poor nutrition and over eating results in many instances of vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

By simply supplementing the diet with vitamins and minerals in the correct quantities this will help to reduce those deficiencies and that alone can assist in reducing the need to eat copious quantities of food due to the constant feeling of hunger.

There is another problem that faces people who are trying to lose weight and that is the fact that many of these diet and weight loss programs create their own deficiencies in vitamins and minerals by not supplying suitable amounts of food to sustain the persons good health while trying to help them lose weight.

Any diet that leaves you constantly feeling hungry is lacking and more often than not it will also be lacking in your body’s need for vitamins and minerals.

Unless the diet has been prepared with the specialist help of dietitians who have a comprehensive knowledge of the bodies need for all the various vitamins and minerals then the chances of you succeeding on a diet will be minimal and this is one of the biggest reasons why many diets are a failure.

It is not so much the person’s willpower to make it work as the fact that the body is crying out for its needs and they aren’t being met with the food that has been allowed on that particular weight-loss program.

If you’re on a diet and you find that you are constantly hungry or craving particular foods then it will be well worthwhile supplementing that diet with a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement that will give you your recommended daily requirements.

You might find that this is all you need to help you to succeed.

What Are the Benefits of Liquid Vitamins?

One of the main benefits of liquid vitamins, apart from the fact that some people find them easier to take, is the fact they are absorbed more easily by the body.

They get assimilated into the blood stream immediately and have a considerably higher rate of absorption than pills and capsules.

Generally the strength of the ingredients in liquid vitamins are up to five times more concentrated that those in pills, so while you might be paying more for them you will also be getting more benefits from taking them rather than pills.

orange in waterThe main problem with vitamin pills or tablets is the fact that they have to be digested and broken down into absorbable nutrients before they are of any benefit to you.

In this process of digestion a large percentage of the nutrients are lost with only the balance getting absorbed.

Liquid vitamins offer a better solution of digestion with up to three times the nutrient value being absorbed as compared to a similar product as a pill.

The decision on what is best for you can be determined from looking at all the factors of ease of use, cost and quality of the nutrients that will actually get absorbed and the products that are available and their nutritional values.

While liquid vitamins might appear to be more expensive you can take them in smaller quantities and still get better results than you would with tablets.

Often liquid vitamins have an unpleasant taste so it might be a good idea to have something else to eat or drink after taking them to make the experience a little more palatable.

Contrary to popular belief that our digestive system will render liquid vitamins ineffective the opposite has proven to be true.
The body assimilates liquid vitamins better than pills, capsules and tablets.

Good Nutrition

Nutrition is a study in itself and there is far more than could ever be covered in this course.

There are however some nutrition basics that will help you to get better results from your training.

Many people are against taking supplements, but fitness training does place additional demands on our body and sometimes this can only be addressed by taking good supplements.

There are many different brands of supplements on the market and these have been developed due to the growth of the fitness industry and the fact that more people are concerned about their health.

Eating the right food will go a long way to supplying us with the nutrition that we need however even the best foods can’t always supply us with the requirements of our busy lives.

One of the main food items (if it can be called that) that needs to be eliminated from our diets wherever possible is sugar.
Sugar will add nothing to your health and can do a whole lot of damage and cause problems such as diabetes to occur even for those people who are following good fitness training regimes.

You will need a level of quality complex carbohydrates to give you the energy to do your fitness training and also protein to help your muscles to recover and grow stronger.

These can be supplied through the foods we eat or by buying quality protein powders and nutritional supplements designed for people who train.

Recovery times can be shortened by supplements and taking supplements can enhance improvements in many aspects of fitness.

Good nutrition is probably the most important aspect of any fitness-training program, as it will ensure you are getting the maximum benefit from the work that you are putting in to your health.

It can be quite costly but the rewards can be quite impressive too.

Should You Take Multi Vitamins?

The question is often asked whether multivitamins should be taken each day.
There are people who believe that we will get all the nutrition we require from the foods that we eat but this is no longer the case.
Many of the foods we eat are processed and have all sorts of additives that can be detrimental to our health.

Even fresh foods don’t have the same minerals that they once had.
In some growing areas most of the minerals that were once in the soil have long since been depleted and the food that is grown in that soil doesn’t have the same values as we have come to expect.

Additional stresses are placed on our health with pollution, work stress and so on, all making demands on our body and the nutrients that we need.

Even fitness training, while good for our health, places additional demands on the body and this is best addressed with supplementation.

A good multivitamin taken once or twice a day can help to balance out any deficiencies that we might have.
This will help us to train better and to stay fitter and healthier and not become as susceptible to illness.

Most of the best multivitamin supplements include a balanced proportion of vitamins and nutrients that meet the recommended daily dosage for an average person.
If you are doing intensive fitness training then your requirements might be higher than normal and that might necessitate additional supplementation.

Once of the most effective methods of testing your needs for vitamins and minerals is through hair sample testing.
Hair sample tests can give you an accurate graph of your levels of vitamins and minerals and based on this information you can supplement your diet to bring back a balance in your nutrition.

Sometimes deficits in these areas can take months to address and without accurate testing the process will take longer.

Everything from smoking to alcohol will deplete the body of essential vitamins and minerals.
Supplements will help to counter these effects.

Do You Have To Supplement Your Diet

Even if you are very particular about the type of food that you eat, it is probably wise to supplement your diet with at least a good multivitamin and mineral tablet once a day.

The reason being is the fact that, a lot of the produce that we buy in the supermarkets these days has been grown in soil that has been depleted of many important nutrients over the years.

The only way that we can get these nutrients is by supplementing our diet.
While there are many healthcare professionals who suggest that you should be getting sufficient nutrients by eating a well rounded diet, there is more evidence that is becoming available now to suggest that there are deficiencies even in these so-called quality foods.

When you add to the fact that we have to cope with additional stress from many different sources these days, not only in the workplace, but also stress that is placed upon the body from pollution and other factors, the need for supplementation has become more necessary than ever.

Many women have low levels of magnesium, and taking a magnesium supplement is one of the best ways to address this problem.

Other minerals such as selenium, chromium and molybdenum are often lacking and supplements containing these can do a lot of good for your health.

Chromium in particular can help to normalize your blood sugar levels and stop you from having cravings that can lead to excess weight from eating junk food.

There is certainly no harm that can be done by taking a good supplement each day, whereas a lack of sufficient minerals and vitamins can lead to all sorts of health problems.

You don’t have to go overboard; as it is quite easy to spend a lot of money on supplements, but just getting the necessities will ensure that your diet is in balance.

There are two natural products they could do wonders for your skin and they are Aloe Vera, and tea tree oil.

Tea tree oil is not something that you drink but rather a topical application that you apply to your skin.  It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties and is good for many things including acne, cuts, grazes, and various other spots and irritations that appear on the surface of the skin.

It also has a mild painkilling property that will give you relief from sunburn and other burns and scalds while at the same time reducing the chance of the skin becoming infected.

Aloe Vera on the other hand can also be taken internally in the form of a gel, tablets or as a drink.

Aloe Vera is particularly good for assisting with the digestion of food and can help if you have stomach complaints from eating foods that do not agree with you.

Aloe Vera is also good to be taken at night for retiring as it will help you to sleep by settling your digestive system down.

When applied to the skin Aloe Vera is excellent for helping to improve many different skin conditions by reducing itching and redness that is associated with any form of inflammation of the skin, reducing the pain and severity of sunburn, and also helping with cuts and bruises.

Not only will it help to calm the skin down, Aloe Vera can also reduce scarring.

In some cases it is proven to help reduce or eliminate eczema and psoriasis.

There are so many uses for Aloe Vera that you shouldn’t be surprised if your local natural health specialist recommends it for almost any ailment that you might suggest.

It can even be used as a face firming cream and will boost many other products when added to them.

You can even grow your own Aloe Vera and just break off the leaves and use the fluid that you find within to apply to your skin

Sun Protection

Many people are unaware that the main reason for the visible signs of aging of the skin is because of exposure to the sun.

While we all require some sunlight to remain healthy and get our share of vitamin D, most people get more than their fair share and the resulting overexposure to the sun ages most people prematurely.

Having a slight tan coloring our skin can give the impression that we look somewhat healthier but the opposite can be true with the damage that is going on below the skin.

The ultra violet rays from sunlight promote the production of melanin and that is why we tan, but this also creates free radicals that destroy the lipids and proteins in the epidermis, which is the thin outermost layer of skin.

Damage can also occur deeper within the skin as the collagen is destroyed.
Collagen is responsible for the elasticity of the skin and keeping our skin firm.

Obviously with a reduction in the elasticity of the skin we will begin to look aged sooner.

Antioxidants will help to reduce the damage that the sun will do to the skin but the best solution is to use suitable protection so the skin doesn’t get damaged in the first place.

Other than remaining out of the sun as much as possible, which isn’t a feasible solution, the best course of action to take is to always ensure that you wear a good sunscreen with an SPF factor of 15 or more depending on your skin type.

Certain sunscreen lotions can cause irritation for people with sensitive skin so, as with all the products you use on your face, try a test sample first.

Make sure you cover all exposed areas of your face and especially the ears where many people forget to apply sunscreen.

Lips are prone to burn easily so a lip cream with an SPF factor should also be used.

Wide brimmed hats and sunglasses will also help to keep the sun off your face and reduce the aging affects.
